房協總幹事：為市民提供體面又可負擔的住宅
香港社會面臨的一個重大挑戰是尋找土地資源，為香港人提供體面的、可負擔的住房。多年以來，房協一直在建設符合最佳標準的房屋，並提供創新的住房解決方案，以滿足人們對房屋不斷變化的需求。本期節目我們邀請到了香港房屋協會行政總裁兼執行總幹事陳欽勉與我們分享市民所關注的房屋問題，以及房協在過去兩年面對疫情和經濟挑戰時，如何克服這些困難，幫助廣大市民解決住房需求。

As Hong Kong Housing Society takes its mission forward, a significant challenge facing the HK community is looking for land resources. The Hong Kong Government and the Housing Society have been working closely together to provide land for public housing development. While constantly looking for new development sites , the Hong Kong Housing Society has also formulated strategies to optimize the use of existing land resources further , and to build socially sustainable housing projects for the community.
在香港房屋協會履行使命的過程中，香港社會面臨的一個重大挑戰就是尋找土地資源。香港政府和房協一直緊密合作，為公共房屋發展提供土地，在不斷尋找新的發展用地的同時，香港房屋協會也制定了相關策略，進一步優化利用現有的土地資源，為社會建設可持續發展的房屋項目。
Today, we have invited the CEO and Executive Director of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), Mr. James Chan Yum-min, to share with us the housing issues that the public is concerned about, and how the Hong Kong Housing Society has overcome these difficulties to help the general public solve their housing problems in the face of the epidemic and economic challenges in the past two years.

The housing society was established since 1948 , and it has some different housing programs and relevant services to respond to the needs of the public. As the CEO and Executive Director of the Housing Society, can you tell us why the Housing Society is called "Housing Lab"? What is its purpose and what is your mission?
自1948年成立以來，香港房屋協會發展了不同類型的房屋計劃及服務來回應市民的住屋需求。作為房屋協會的行政總裁兼執行總幹事，請問為什麼將房協稱為「房屋實驗室」？其宗旨和使命是什麼？
嘉賓︰The Hong Kong Housing Society is the first NGO in HK, established to provide public housing service . It was founded at a time when HK was being rebuilt after the WWII . You know the living condition was generally very poor at that time.
香港房屋協會是香港第一個為提供公共房屋服務而成立的非政府組織。它成立的時候，當時香港正在進行二戰後的重建。你知道那個時候，人們的生活條件普遍很差。
Established with a donation of 14,000 pounds after the war, the Housing Society has its mission to provide decent and affordable homes for HK people. This mission to serve the HK community has remained unchanged since its establishment.
戰後用14,000英鎊的捐款成立的香港房屋協會，其使命是為香港人提供體面的、可負擔的住房。這個服務香港社會的使命自成立以來，一直沒有改變。
Our first estate was Sheung Li Uk in Sham Shui Po, which was completed in 1952, and the first public housing estate in HK. It was also a breakthrough because it has provided self-contained flats with their own kitchens, bathrooms, and balconies, instead of providing commercial communal facilities prevailing at the time.
我們的第一個屋邨是位於深水埗的上李屋於1952年落成，是香港第一個公共屋邨。上李屋也是一個新的突破，因為它提供了獨立的公寓，有自己的廚房、浴室和陽台，而放棄了當時流行的商業公共設施。
Sheung Li Uk has actually set the prototype for public housing in future. So after starting as a pioneer of public rental housing, the Housing Society has moved forward with time by exploring various service models, including Urban Improvement and Subsidized Housing for Sale, Sandwich Class Housing, as well as the more recent Elderly Housing.
上李屋實際上是為未來的公共住房樹立了一個原型。在上李屋作為公共租賃房屋的先驅落成之後，隨着時間的推移，房協不斷探索各種服務模式，包括市區改善計劃、資助出售房屋、夾心階層住屋計劃，還有長者房屋。
Over the years, we have built more than 74,000 residential units. It is this spirit of moving forward with time and new services have earned the Housing Society a position of housing laboratory.
多年來，我們已建成超過74,000個住宅單位。正是這種與時俱進的精神和新的服務，為房屋協會贏得了「房屋實驗室」的地位。
