西藏吉隆縣日前突發嚴重的泥石流災害，災情牽動着全國上下與香港同胞的心。災難發生後，中央高度重視、習近平總書記第一時間作出重要指示，全國各方救援力量火速馳援，目前部分救援人員已挺進受災核心區域，展現了強大的國家救援力量。《大公報》派出記者深入災區，親眼目睹這場與時間賽跑、為生命奔襲的救災壯舉，見證八方馳援、眾志成城的溫暖瞬間，更真切感受到香港與西藏之間跨越山海、血濃於水的同胞情誼。
受災核心區地形複雜、氣候惡劣，泥石流導致道路中斷、通訊受阻，救災難度極大。但過去五天來，硬是一步步向前推進。救援命令一下，消防救援隊、解放軍和武警部隊官兵等聞令而動，挺進災情最嚴重、危險最大的第一線。在塌方與泥石流隨時可能二次爆發的現場，救援人員頂着惡劣天氣，徒步搬運救災物資、徒手搜救被困群眾。他們顧不上泥濘與疲憊，連夜奮戰，用血肉之軀築起了守護生命的鋼鐵長城。
通訊是救災的生命線。在多方全力搶修下，吉隆口岸的通訊信號已迅速搶通，信號已經能夠送達核心救援現場，為指揮調度、物資發放及傷員轉運提供了關鍵支撐。西藏自治區人民政府新聞辦公室昨日在吉隆鎮舉行新聞發布會，向外界公布災害最新情況與救援進展，強調做好「四個全力」：全力做好搜救、全力做好群眾轉移安置、全力做好隱患排查、全力做好善後處置。現在「水陸空」三路並進，有望短時間內打通「最後一公里路」。

香港與西藏雖然地理距離遙遠，但近年來的交流合作日益緊密。就在今年8月中，西藏代表團訪港簽訂了多項綠色發展和農產品的合作備忘錄。去年底，香港海關關長率團訪問西藏，雙方就促進兩地經貿連繫、加強打擊文物走私以及深化海關協作深入交換意見。考察期間，代表團專程到訪吉隆口岸和日喀則國際陸地港，實地考察口岸邊境建設，了解當地的南亞班列貨物監管模式及通關流程。吉隆口岸作為面向南亞開放的重要通商口岸，在促進「一帶一路」沿線貿易中扮演着關鍵角色。可以預見，待災後重建完成，兩地在物流通關、經貿往來及文化交流等領域的合作空間將更加廣闊。

Though separated by thousands of rivers and mountains, caring hearts are closely connected
A severe mudslide disaster recently struck Gyirong County in Xizang, tugging at the hearts of people across the country including Hong Kong compatriots. Following the disaster, the Central Government attached great importance to the situation, and General Secretary Xi Jinping immediately issued important instructions. Rescue forces from all over the country swiftly rushed to the scene. Now, some rescuers have already advanced into the core disasterhit zone, demonstrating the nation's powerful rescue capacity. Ta Kung Pao sent journalists deep into the disasterstricken area, where they saw with their own eyes this heroic rescue operation of racing against time to save lives, and witnessed the heartwarming moments of aid and support pouring in from all quarters and the united will of the people. They also gained a deeper appreciation for the blood-thicker-than-water bond of kinship between Hong Kong and Xizang, a bond that transcends mountains and seas.
The disaster-stricken core area features complex terrain and harsh weather conditions. The mudslide severed roads and disrupted communications, making rescue operations extremely challenging. Yet, over the past five days, rescue teams pressed ahead step by step. Upon receiving rescue orders, firefighters, officers and soldiers of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and People's Armed Police (PAP) sprang into action, heading for the most severelyhit and most dangerous frontline sites. At sites where landslides and mudslides could erupt again at any moment, rescuers braved severe weather, hiking long distances to carry relief supplies and using their bare hands to search for and rescue trapped people. Ignoring the mud and exhaustion, they fought through the night, building a steel wall with their own flesh and blood to safeguard lives.
Communication is the lifeline of disaster relief. Thanks to allout repair efforts, telecommunication signals at the Gyirong Port have been rapidly restored and extended to cover the core rescue site, providing vital support for command and coordination, supply distribution and casualty evacuation. The Information Office of the People's Government of the Xizang Autonomous Region held a press conference in Gyirong Town yesterday, releasing the latest information on the disaster and updates on the rescue efforts, and emphasized the importance of "four all-out efforts": making all-out efforts in search and rescue, making all-out efforts in the relocation and resettlement of affected people, making all-out efforts to identify and address potential hazards, and making all-out efforts to handle post-disaster matters properly.
The disaster in Xizang has deeply tugged at the heartstrings of people across the country, including more than seven million Hong Kong compatriots. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government swiftly activated its emergency response mechanism to support the rescue efforts and post-disaster reconstruction, through measures such as setting aside HK$50 million from the Disaster Relief Fund. All sectors of Hong Kong society are also paying close attention; enterprises such as the Sino Group have announced donations to aid the disaster relief, and people from all walks of life have expressed their concern, demonstrating the flesh-and blood bond and shared destiny between Hong Kong and the Mainland. Reporters from Ta Kung Pao covering the situation in Shigatse truly felt the simplest yet most heartfelt emotion conveyed in the local residents' words: "It feels like we're all one family."
Although Hong Kong and Xizang are geographically far apart, their exchanges and cooperation have become increasingly close in recent years. As recently as mid-August this year, a Tibetan delegation visited Hong Kong and signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on green development and agricultural products. At the end of last year, the Commissioner of Hong Kong Customs led a delegation to visit Xizang, where both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on promoting bilateral economic and trade ties, strengthening efforts to combat cultural relic smuggling, and deepening customs cooperation. During the visit, the delegation made a special trip to the Gyirong Port and the Shigatse International Land Port, to conduct onsite inspections of port and border infrastructure and learn about cargo supervision and customs clearance procedures for the South Asian Freight Trains. As an important trade gateway open to South Asia, the Gyirong Port plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade along the Belt and Road. It is foreseeable that once post-disaster reconstruction is completed, the scope for cooperation between the two regions in areas such as logistics and clearance, economic and trade exchanges, and cultural interactions will be even broader.
This sudden mudslide disaster posed a severe test. Yet the "China Speed", "China Strength" and "China Compassion" displayed during the rescue efforts once again underscored the unparalleled advantages of our state system. Faced with major natural disasters, the Central Authorities coordinate the overall situation and give precise directions. Government departments and local authorities across the country collaborate efficiently and act in concert. Communities from all walks of life unite and offer generous support. The powerful cohesion of the whole nation working as one forms a solid foundation for us to overcome all hardships and risks.

英譯知多啲
本期社評中「西藏」一詞的翻譯，我們採用漢語拼音Xizang而不用以前流行的英文譯名Tibet。
早在2003年，中國官方媒體就開始把「西藏」英譯從Tibet改為Xizang，一方面是避免地理上的歧義，另一方面是在政治上體現中國對西藏的主權。因為英文Tibet的覆蓋範圍除西藏自治區（Xizang Autonomous Region）外，還包括青海、四川、甘肅、雲南等省份境內的藏族居住地區，而「西藏」指的是西藏自治區─ 中華人民共和國的一個省級行政區。
社評中提到西藏的一些地名如吉隆縣和日喀則，我們也採用官方的譯名─Gyirong County和Shigatse，這些地名可能是早年按照當地方言音譯而來，有如「香港」的譯名Hong Kong。這些地名的譯名並不會產生歧義，所以沒有必要改用漢語拼音。
